We all know at least one person who, when we spend time with, leave us feeling drained and demotivated. In order to make the most of life and achieve what we want, it’s vital to limit our time with these types of people and maximise time with can-doers.

Connection is one of the pillars of human needs, and shouldn’t be neglected. Whilst of course there are differences between the amount of contact needed, we all need to be around others who lift us up. Whilst you may not be able to totally eliminate the toxic people from your life, you can limit your time with them, and surround yourself more with people more likely to push you towards your own goals:

1. People who share the same values: What’s really, truly important to you? Conflict arises when we have mis-matched values with others, so surround yourself with those with similar values

2. People working on their own goals: They’re likely to understand self-growth and the importance of working towards what you want, and in striving for that themselves, will inspire you to do the same.

3. A life coach: A professional life coach will listen to you, let you spill your guts, and then help you to re-arrange your thoughts, and get to the root of what you really want out of life, and work alongside you to find your strengths, your values, and the steps to take to get you to where you want to be.

Some people leave us feeling flat, and others pump us up- ask yourself who puts you in a better mood, who makes you feel energised and ready to take on the world? Then spend more time around them and watch how your mood and can-do attitude lifts!
